PDF-to-HTML conversion and PDF sharing are different tasks

By PDF2WEB · Updated October 22, 2026

PDF2WEB displays the original PDF in a browser and can create a temporary reading link. It does not convert a PDF into editable HTML files. Choose a viewer for reading, a sharing link for distribution, or a separate converter when you need web-page source.

What a PDF reader does

A reader renders the pages of an existing PDF so you can look through them. With PDF2WEB you can open a local PDF up to 50 MB, scroll, zoom, fit the page width or jump to a page. This makes the document viewable in a browser, but the content is still a PDF. Local reading does not require an account or upload the file.

What a sharing link adds

When you choose to share, PDF2WEB uploads the PDF and creates a URL that opens its reader. Free sharing is available without signup and lasts 12 hours from link creation. Anyone holding the link can view it during that period. This is useful for temporary distribution of documents you are allowed to share; it is not permanent hosting, a private workspace or a backup service.

When conversion is the right task

If you need to change the layout using HTML and CSS, publish a responsive article or export text into a website you control, you need a conversion or authoring workflow. PDF2WEB does not export those files. A scanned page may also need OCR before its text can be edited. Choose a tool that explicitly supports the output you need and check its handling of the document before submitting sensitive content.

Start with the original document

Keep your source PDF regardless of the workflow. If you only need to read it, use the local reading guide. If someone else needs temporary access, follow the sharing guide and review the expiry and deletion controls before sending the URL.
